DAY 1: ARUSHA-MACHAME GATE (1790m) - MACHAME CAMP (3048m) 5-6 Hrs

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up and transferred to Machame gate to complete the registration and meet the rest of the team and commence the climb. The 5–6-hour climb will take you through the cool and moist rain forest to your first camp amidst the giant heathers.

DAY 1: ARUSHA-MACHAME GATE (1790m) - MACHAME CAMP (3048m) 5-6 Hrs

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up and transferred to Machame gate to complete the registration and meet the rest of the team and commence the climb. The 5–6-hour climb will take you through the cool and moist rain forest to your first camp amidst the giant heathers.

DAY 2: MACHAME HUTS (3048) - SHIRA CAMP (3840m) 5-6 Hrs 5 KM

From the heather, you’ll hike through a steep rocky trail on open land with little to vegetation. The trail will bring you through plenty of ridges and to the volcanic caldera that requires a half hour optional afternoon walk to explore. If lucky, Eland herds will be on the way

DAY 3: SHIRA CAMP (3840m) – BARRANCO VALLEY (3962) 7-8hrs 7 KM

Hike over boulders and volcanic rocks with a clear view of the western glaciers across the high-altitude desert while heading towards the lava tower where we’ll stop for lunch (if interested you can climb up the lava tower (4526m). Afterwards we’ll descend for about two hours to Barranco Valley (3962m). This climb and descending will help with acclimatization maximizing the chances for you to reach summit.

DAY 4: BARRANCO CAMP (3962m) KARANGA VALLEY CAMP (4100m) 3-4hrs 5KM

Today will be a short day, In the morning after breakfast, a steep and tricky climb up the Barranco wall will greet you, you might need your hands to reach and steady yourself a bit like a rock climber. Once atop of the wall you’ll have a magnificent view of the Barranco valley and a sight of the camp you spent the previous night in. You’ll make your way through the greener valley known to be the last water point to the mountain and ultimately reaching at Karanga Valley Camp at around lunch hours. Take afternoon walks with your guide for fantastic views of the southern walls of Kibo and deep glacier valleys.

DAY 5: KARANGA VALLEY CAMP (4100m) – BARAFU HUT (4328m) 3-4hrs 4KM

This short and steep uphill climb will take you past the Decken’s Glacier (placing it on our left), give you a fantastic view of Mawenzi peak and take you up a steep ridge to your final camp nested high up on the rocks (4328m). We will at the camp by lunch time and have enough time to rest in preparation for the summit attempt. In the evening this camp offers splendid views of Mawenzi amid the strong wind that rip over the camp.

DAY 6: BARAFU HAT (4328m) – SUMMIT (5895m) – MWEKA CAMP (3075m) 13HRS 13KM

Hiking will start at around midnight so as to reach Stella point on the crater rim for sunrise where the lava field are like loose sand hence stealing half a step from you with each you take. A break every 15 minutes is normal in this section as the climb gets more demanding both mentally and physically.

A one hour climb after sunrise will bring us to Uhuru peak (5904) the highest point in the continent. From there we will start our 6hrs decent to Mweka camp (3075m). This long and hard day will tire you yet leave you absolutely happy knowing that you did it.

DAY 7: MWEKA CAMP (3075m) – MWEKA GATE (1645m) – ARUSHA 3-4hrs 10KM

The final day of the hike will take between 4 and 5 hours taking us all the way back to the pack gate. Check out will follow along with receiving our Kilimanjaro climbing certificates as well as saying our goodbyes to the mountain crew members. From there, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel for a hot shower, dinner and a much-needed rest.
